“On Sunday, January 19, 2014, a group of fighters gathered at Bas Rutten’s Elite MMA Gym in Thousand Oaks, California, for a morning training session. For many, this was the last hard day of work before their fight the following Sunday, at TAO MMA—an amateur mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu event, being held at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
